About the Doe River Gorge Series
A week ago I had the pleasure of an invitation to visit Doe River Gorge Ministry near Elizabethton, Tennessee. We rode up into the mountains on their classic little train once used to haul iron ore years ago. Fall is often spectacular in our area and this day was as close to perfect as I have seen in years. On the way down the light was magical and I was able to walk around in the river with all this wonderful gold and orange reflecting in the water. I took lots of photos which were the jumping off point for a series of pastels and a large acrylic painting. Naturally I pushed the color to the limit in these paintings! Why not!
