Classroom
Welcome to my classroom! Here you'll find all sorts of fun and
instructional materials. Behind the Easel installments are part of an ongoing series I'm
doing that shows step by step how a painting grows from a rough charcoal sketch to
the final piece. You'll also find articles that I've written, some of which have appeared
in periodicals such as the Pastel Journal. Of course, nothing beats one-on-one
learning so if you have the opportunity, I'd love to work with you at one of my
workshops. You'll find a list of my upcoming workshops in the sidebar, and some workshop
photos below. And be sure to visit the classroom often as I'm always adding new content
for those wanting to learn more about painting with pastel.

Workshop Testimonial
"Hey Paul,
We want to thank you for the wonderful pastel workshop you lead for the Franklin Special School
District art teachers and friends. Your demonstrations, concepts and critiques helped us to grow
as artists and teachers. The two days we spent immersed in your guidance opened our eyes to
new possibilities with color, composition, and techniques. The boards and pastels you made were
a joy to use. We are already discussing ways to teach to our students what we learned from you.
Thank you for sharing your expert knowledge and experience with us. We all look forward to seeing
you at the fall TAEA conference."
